Copa Airlines Cargo Flight India

In 1947, a group of businessmen initiated an airline with support from Pan American Airways. The airline commenced operations with 24 employees based in the capital and two provinces. It conducted domestic flights to three cities within Panama using three Douglas C-47 aircraft. Soon after, the airline added Guatemala as a destination, becoming an international carrier. By 1977, the airline expanded its route network throughout Central America and into Colombia.

In 1979, financial challenges forced the airline to cease domestic flights, fully transitioning to international operations. During the 1980s, the airline acquired its first B737-100 aircraft, launching flights to various Caribbean destinations. This decade also marked the introduction of cargo flights, enabling transport for passengers and goods. The 1990s witnessed significant route expansion, including cities in Mexico, Colombia, and South America. The cargo division established daily flights to Miami, enhancing connectivity among major cities in Central America.

In 1997, the airline moved its cargo operations to a modern facility, further consolidating airfreight services. In 1998, Continental Airlines purchased a 49 percent stake in the airline, strengthening commercial ties. This acquisition led to the introduction of Boeing 737-700 Next Generation aircraft into the fleet. Between 2000 and 2005, the airline experienced consistent growth, adding new frequencies and destinations.

Presently, the airline operates 22 Boeing 737-700 and 737-800 passenger aircraft, each carrying significant cargo. Daily operations facilitate the transport of approximately 75,000 kilos of cargo, mail, and courier items. A fleet of cargo aircraft ensures that scheduled flights cover crucial destinations throughout the region efficiently.
