What This Tool Does
This daily SIP calculator estimates the future value of a Systematic Investment Plan where a fixed amount is invested every trading day, rather than weekly or monthly, based on your daily amount, expected annual return, and time period.

How It’s Calculated
Step 1 โ Convert the annual rate to a daily rate:
Daily Rate = (1 + Annual Rate)^(1/365) โ 1
A common mistake is simply dividing the annual rate by 365 โ that ignores compounding and understates the true daily rate.
Step 2 โ Apply the future value formula:
Future Value = P ร [(1+r)โฟ โ 1] รท r ร (1+r)
Where P is the daily investment, r is the daily rate, and n is the total number of investment days.
Worked example: โน300 invested daily for 8 years, at an assumed 12% annual return.
- Daily rate: (1.12)^(1/365) โ 1 โ 0.000311 (0.0311%)
- Total days: 365 ร 8 = 2,920
- Future Value: 300 ร [(1.000311)^2920 โ 1] รท 0.000311 ร 1.000311 โ โน14,25,863
- Total invested: 300 ร 2,920 = โน8,76,000
- Estimated returns: approximately โน5,49,863
Edge Cases and Special Rules
- Calendar days vs. trading days: Markets aren’t open every calendar day, so some platforms invest on the next available trading day when markets are closed, while others may calculate slightly differently โ the exact convention can shift results marginally depending on the platform.
- Returns are projections, not guarantees: As with any mutual fund SIP, the assumed rate of return is an estimate for planning purposes, not a promised outcome โ actual returns depend on market performance.
- Step-up daily SIPs exist too: Some platforms let you periodically increase your daily investment amount (similar to a step-up monthly SIP), which changes the growth trajectory beyond what a flat daily amount would produce.
- Small daily amounts still compound meaningfully over long periods: Because compounding applies daily rather than monthly, small consistent amounts can add up to a substantial corpus over many years, as the worked example shows.
Daily vs. Weekly vs. Monthly SIP
These differ mainly in transaction frequency and rupee-cost-averaging granularity. Daily SIP invests every trading day, offering the most granular rupee-cost averaging since your purchase price is spread across the most market days, but requires the most frequent transactions. Weekly SIP invests once a week, offering a middle ground โ moderate averaging benefit without daily commitment. Monthly SIP, the most common and widely automated option, offers steady long-term growth with the least frequent transactions, which suits most salaried investors’ pay cycles.
Who Uses This
- Investors wanting to smooth out market volatility through very frequent, small investments
- Students and young professionals starting with small amounts
- People wanting to automate a daily savings and investing habit
- Investors comparing daily SIP projections against weekly or monthly alternatives
SIP vs. SWP
These work in opposite directions. A SIP (Systematic Investment Plan) builds a corpus over time through regular investments. An SWP (Systematic Withdrawal Plan) does the reverse โ drawing down an existing corpus through regular withdrawals, commonly used by retirees or anyone wanting a steady income stream from an already-built investment. Many investors use a SIP during their accumulation years and later switch to an SWP once they need regular payouts instead.
FAQ
What is a daily SIP?
A Systematic Investment Plan where a fixed amount is invested every trading day, instead of weekly or monthly.
How is the daily rate calculated from an annual rate?
By taking the annual rate to the power of 1/365 and subtracting 1 โ simply dividing by 365 ignores compounding and gives an inaccurate figure.
Is daily SIP better than monthly SIP?
It depends on your preference โ daily SIP offers finer rupee-cost averaging but requires more frequent transactions; monthly SIP is simpler to automate and manage.
Which platforms offer daily SIP investing?
Several brokers and investment platforms, including Groww, Zerodha, Dhan, Angel One, and others, offer daily SIP as an investment option.
Does daily SIP guarantee higher returns than monthly SIP?
No, both are market-linked, and neither guarantees a specific return; the difference is mainly in cost-averaging granularity, not guaranteed performance.
